Tuesday April 19

The class laughs as Mrs. Z busts a dance move in front of the Supreme Court.

The J's listen intently to the tour guide in the Capitol Building.

A beautiful painting found in the Rotunda of the Capitol Building.

The whole group proudly displays their DC t-shirts in front of the Capitol Building.

Looking good in front of the White House.

The Class of 2012 had a very busy day today. We got to wear our amazing DC shirts designed by J.J. The first stop on today's schedule was the Library of Congress, the building was very ornately designed full of marble and overflowing with shininess. Next was the Supreme Court Building a very serious and weighty building full of the symbolism of justice. After that was The Capitol Building where we took a very informative tour, and got to see the old and new senate chambers. Lastly was The White House where there was a crazy lady.
Yours truly

Monday, April 18

This is a view from the "Old Post Office, Clock Tower." It was beautiful! We watched a play called "One Destiny" at Ford's Theatre. It was about two actors recalling the events of Lincoln's assassination. This is the traditional group picture on the steps of the "Bureau of Engraving and Printing." More money than we'll ever see in our lifetime... It's Mr. Anderson's birthday at Chevy's! (Very early birthday!) Today's sightseeing included a lot of "NO PHOTOGRAPHY" signs and lots of walking. So today, we also saw the Jefferson Memorial, the Air and Space Smithsonian, and the National Archives. This included the Bill of Rights, the Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence. Of course, you can still see the "John Hancock" signature. ;) -Jenna and Hallie PS: Hey parents! :D See ya guys soon!

Today started off with our group meeting at Mrs. Zackrison's room to go over what was happening, as well as to receive sack lunches that were kindly made by Cyndi. After getting off of the Metro, we found ourselves in the Mall (It's the space between the Capital building and the Washington Monument, and no, there are no shops there). We started off by visiting the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, which was full of many interesting things. There were several sections, including cool stones, and lots of animals. During that time, we look for things that tell us about God. Afterwards, we travelled over to the Holocoust Museum. It seemed to be one of those things that you have to go to, to get a good personal image of what actually happened, though that isn't applicable to all people. We came back to the Hotel where Mr. Anderson gave a sermon, and then we travelled to the Pentagon City Mall, which had a whopping four stories. Finally, we ended our day by watching National Treasure.

Friday, April 15 - Philadelphia

The first Senate room in Philadelphia. The handsome class of 2012 posing by the liberty bell. Viewing Benjamin Franklin's final resting place. (More familiarly recognized as the location of the chase scene in National Treasure.) Today began with a nutritious breakfast at our lovely Microtel. We then set off for Philadelphia where we saw Ben Franklin's grave, the Quaker meeting house, the US Mint (waiting a quick 30 minutes to tour), the excavation site of George Washington's presidental house in Philadelphia, the Liberty Bell, and toured Independence Hall and the surrounding buildings. We enjoyed lunch at the Bourse before heading to Washington D.C. The trip was long but we finally made it to our amazing Marriott hotel after hours of directional confusion. Luckily we will be riding the Metro for the rest of the trip, which we learned how to use respectfully today. We ate dinner at the majestic and bustling Union Station. Back at our hotel, Matt gave a thoughtful worship talk on the importance of having a broken heart for this world. We hope you all had a wonderful closing to the week. Happy Sabbath! :) With Love, Alannah (The Official Ambassador of Ambassadors), Jessica (The Talented Navigator), and Sierra (who showcased her newly found snoring talents today.)
